Application: Bottle Case Packing

Solution: Fanuc M-16iB/20 robot with R-J3iB controller

Application Requirements:

  • Ability to robotically case pack quart and gallon bottles with manual tool changing
  • Case pack at a rate of 1 cycle every 6 seconds
  • Utilizes Fanuc PMC (Programmable Machine Controller) which eliminates the need for a external PLC
  • Designed to fit into existing line
  • Included infeed conveyor with escapement device and sensors
  • Designed to run unmanned for long periods of time

Details:

The customer required an automated cell which would handle a series of products which ran in 6 count quarts or 4 count gallons. Using several different end of arm tools with quick disconnects, the customer is able to change over between products in minutes instead of hours within the robot cell. System runs completely off the robot controller and uses no external PLC controls. This includes controlling the sensors and actuators on the escapement conveyor for inbound product. System included the robot, inbound escapement conveyor, complete guarding, several sets of quick change end of arm tooling and installation onsite.
