Solution: Fanuc R2000iA/F210 robot with R-J3iB controller
Application Requirements:
- (5) 150lb castings per minute line rate
- Ability to robotically locate and pick a raw casting off an infeed conveyor
- Ability to robotically load and unload a twin spindle vertical lathe
- Ability to robotically load and unload a VMC (vertical machining center)
- Allow for operators to request sample parts for gauging during operation and then reinsert the part back into the process
- Robotically load a parts washer and outbound parts conveyor
Details:
Working closely with the customer, Promatech was able to develop a cell which utilized a single robot to handle this casting thru several machining processes, inspections and then washing and drying. Promatech engineers were able to utilize the Fanuc software option called PMC (Programmable Machine Controller) and the HMI option which eliminated the need for an external PLC and helped keep costs on the cell low. A complete guarding package, machine interfacing (electrically), drip pans and floor protection and all conveyors including controls combined to form a complete turn-key cell.
